Cleveland State University
Cleveland - United States of America
Established in downtown Cleveland in 1964, Cleveland State University currently enrolls more than 17,000 students each year and offers approximately 200 academic programs as part of the University System of Ohio. These programs include 70 undergraduate majors, 27 master’s degree programs, six doctoral degrees, and two law degrees through the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. The university is known for its strong research facilities and its collaboration with Cleveland-based organizations and initiatives, including the NASA Glenn Research Center. Although a large portion of the student population commutes from the surrounding metropolitan area, the campus provides a historic high-rise residence hall as well as shared apartment housing for students who choose to live on campus, including international students. Campus staff are dedicated to supporting students with diverse needs and assisting international students as they adjust to a new academic environment. Campus life offers all the features of a large university, such as athletic and wellness facilities, a vibrant arts and theater scene, fraternities and sororities, counseling services, a food court and coffee shop, and more than 200 student organizations. Students may choose to participate in volunteer programs, engage in student government, or support the NCAA Division I Vikings. Due to its downtown location, the university also provides convenient access to off-campus attractions, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, the zoo, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Public transportation options—buses, trolleys, and trains—make it easy for students to travel throughout the city, especially when using the free trolley services. Studying in the presence of the iconic Terminal Tower and the historic Higbee’s building, near the lively Flats district and within walking distance of the stadiums of the Cleveland Indians and the Cavaliers, allows students to fully experience the city and proudly call Cleveland and Cleveland State University their academic home.
