Sacred Heart University
Fairfield - United States of America
Sacred Heart University was founded in 1963 with the aim of providing a higher education institution that serves the local population without discrimination based on gender, race, or religion. The university’s growth and vitality became evident as student enrollment rose from 200 to nearly 8,500 within a relatively short period. Over the years, the institution expanded to become the second-largest Catholic university in New England and one of the fastest-growing Catholic universities in the United States. Recently, Sacred Heart University was ranked among the top four most innovative universities and recognized as one of the best universities in the Northern United States according to the US News & World Report “Best Colleges 2018,” reflecting its notable expansion, attractiveness, and growth over the past decade. The university believes that inquiry, knowledge-seeking, and thoughtful reflection inside and outside the classroom create more opportunities and choices, which is why the Office of Student Activities organizes purposeful events to enhance student skills and support their campus experience. The university offers more than 60 clubs and student organizations, providing opportunities for students to connect with peers who share similar interests and engage with faculty and staff beyond the classroom. Sacred Heart University is located in Fairfield, Connecticut, and currently enrolls approximately 5,560 students, with international students comprising around 17% from more than 42 countries. These students study, live, and socialize within a secure campus environment. Fairfield is a quiet, rural town well-suited for academic focus and learning, yet it also offers recreational opportunities such as visiting the unique glass house, the Bruce Museum, and one of the region’s famous chocolate houses. It is also worth noting that Fairfield is relatively expensive compared to other towns in the state due to its proximity to New York City.
