Salve Regina University is a private Catholic university located in Newport, Rhode Island, USA, founded in 1934 by the Sisters of Mercy with the goal of providing a comprehensive education that combines academic learning with human values. The university began as a small college called Salve Regina College and welcomed its first class after acquiring the historic Ochre Court mansion in 1947. In 1973, it became coeducational, and in 1991 it was officially designated as a full university. The campus spans about 80 acres in a scenic coastal area overlooking the ocean near Newport’s famous Cliff Walk, featuring historic buildings that have been restored and integrated into the learning environment, creating a unique and visually striking setting. (en.wikipedia.org ) At Salve Regina, students receive an educational experience that blends liberal arts and professional studies through close interaction with faculty and hands-on engagement in the local community. Students are encouraged to participate in service programs and projects that connect academic learning with real-life experience. The campus itself is part of Newport’s historic and cultural fabric, giving students the opportunity to explore the city’s heritage and surroundings, including local markets, museums, natural spaces, and scenic coastal areas, which add a distinctive dimension to the university experience
