The University of Alabama at Birmingham
Birmingham - United States of America
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) was founded in the mid-1930s as a leading research university and a center for healthcare and medical excellence. Located in the state of Alabama, the University is just minutes away from Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport and currently enrolls more than 18,000 students. UAB is known for its small class sizes, with an average of 15–20 students per class, allowing for personalized academic attention. The University is committed to delivering high-quality, comprehensive programs designed to meet students’ needs and enhance the learning experience. Classrooms are thoughtfully designed, featuring modern spaces equipped with the latest educational technologies. The University proudly holds a strong position in global rankings, having been placed among the Top 10 Young Universities in the United States by Times Higher Education in 2018. UAB is dedicated to empowering students to turn their talents and abilities into real-world impact, fostering core values such as resilience, persuasion, courage, and self-confidence. Although transitioning from high school in one’s home country to studying abroad can be challenging—due to a new language, different learning methods, and a new environment—students often find comfort and familiarity in the city of Birmingham. The city is home to Arab and Asian markets, mosques, and a large Arab and Muslim community, helping international students feel welcomed and supported. UAB’s vibrant campus, with its beautiful green spaces and excellent facilities, creates a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. Students can study in one of the most modern academic libraries, or unwind after classes by swimming or exercising at the new state-of-the-art fitness and recreation center, ensuring a balanced and enriching university experience.
