Founded in 1948, the university is home to the largest business school and the third-largest engineering school in Canada, making it one of the country’s leading academic institutions. The university is committed to enhancing both academic knowledge and practical experience for its students. It strongly encourages entrepreneurship and innovation and works to foster a culture of work and applied learning among students. Toronto Metropolitan University believes that education, knowledge, and real-world experience go hand in hand, as what students learn in the classroom is reinforced through hands-on training and practical opportunities. The university hosts international students from more than 146 countries, creating a dynamic learning environment enriched by diverse cultures, perspectives, and opportunities. It also places great emphasis on developing students’ literary and creative skills. Under the supervision of the student union, students publish a student newspaper and a semiannual magazine, in addition to operating a campus radio station that broadcasts within the university. Located in the center of Toronto, the university benefits from being in a city that was recently ranked fourth among the world’s most livable cities by The Economist, and is also the fourth-largest city in North America. This prime location offers students valuable opportunities to connect with major businesses and access some of the best healthcare facilities. Stepping outside the university gates, students find themselves immediately on a vibrant main street full of life and activity, right in the heart of the city, with everything they need close by, including Kensington Market, the Eaton Centre, Yonge–Dundas Square, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. In addition, the university provides its students with numerous benefits and discounts across the city, such as reduced admission fees to the Art Gallery of Ontario, discounts on Apple products, metro pass discounts, Cineplex cinema ticket discounts, and many other offers. These advantages help students feel valued and supported, making it easier for them to successfully complete their academic journey.
