The University of Central Florida (UCF) is a public American research university located in Orlando, Florida. It was founded in 1963 and is the largest university in the United States by enrollment. Its main campus is based in Orlando, and the university operates through 11 academic centers distributed across the state. UCF is often referred to as a Space Grant University due to its significant research contributions in engineering, optics, simulation, and digital media. The university features a unique campus master plan that has become a model for other institutions and is reminiscent of the planning concepts used by the Walt Disney Company. The campus was designed as a pedestrian-focused environment with a series of interconnected concentric circles, while the outermost circle serves as the primary roadway for vehicle traffic within the campus.
