Western Ontario - Canada
Western University, also known as the University of Western Ontario, is a public research university located in the city of London, Ontario, and is considered one of the oldest universities in Canada. The university covers an area of approximately 1.6 square kilometers of land situated north of a branch of the Thames River, and the main campus consists of 75 buildings. The university has also expanded to include lands and facilities beyond the main campus. The university offers students the opportunity to obtain conditional admission to study the English language for undergraduate or master’s programs in a wide range of disciplines, including Arts and Humanities, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Nursing, Information and Media Studies, Business Administration, Law, Medicine and Dentistry, Pure Sciences and Computer Science, as well as Social Sciences. Admission requirements include submitting certified copies of academic certificates in English, with a minimum overall grade of no less than 65%. Applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency by passing one of the approved tests, such as the TOEFL with a minimum score of 83, IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5, LPE with a final score of 58, or LPI with a minimum score of 5. The MELAB English language test, offered by the Michigan English Language Institute, is also accepted as an approved alternative to the TOEFL, with a minimum required score of 80. Students are required to provide financial sponsorship proving their ability to cover the costs of study. Tuition and overall study costs range from $5,000 to $17,500, including university and academic fees, personal expenses, accommodation costs, and meals. Final fees depend on the duration of study and the type of accommodation. The university offers several housing options, including on-campus residence halls, homestay with families, and private apartments. The university also benefits from its proximity to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
